The fate of wild salmon is not looking too good, considering hydroelectric dams, sea lions, and now possibly a potentially lethal virus. This virus is called infectious salmon anemia, which was first detected in 2002, but not revealed by the Canadian government. Scientists are not yet sure of how the virus is able to mutate to effect other organisms. More research is currently being done on the topic, that has created much controversy in the courts of Canada as well as the United States.
