Plan B Restrictions and Controversy

he-planb19       The FDA has deemed Plan B safe and effective, and it has little side effects. However, on December 7, it was ruled that the Plan B pill will only be available for girls under 16 by prescription in the United States. This was not just a conservative victory, but the decision was based on scientific evidence. Research conducted on the safety of Plan B did not include girls under the age of 16. Some believe girls under 16 will not understand how to properly consume the drug, precisely why the legislators think they should consult with a doctor first. However, Plan B is much more effective the sooner it is taken. This debate is no where near over, and the Center for Reproductive Rights stated it will reopen a lawsuit against the FDA from 2005, pressing them to remove age restrictions.
