Ladybugs changed color in response to climate change

Ladybugs in the Netherlands may be changing their color due to a consistently warming climate and fewer sunny days. The two colors of ladybugs already present are due to a natural division of ladybugs who live in a warmer climate and those that live in a cooler inland climate. Researchers believe the genetic switch from one color to the other is very simple, but do still not know how exactly the temperature shift causes the change. Some think that the hypothesis still requires further data and experimentation with the bugs in the lab.
