Scientists make a major breakthrough in the fight against malaria

Researchers identified a group of proteins required by the malaria parasite to survive in a human host. Because they have discovered the 36 essential proteins used by the parasite, they know hope the drug companies will be able to produce drugs to target them, destroying the parasite. They believe it will be a breakthrough in saving the hundreds of millions of people that die each year from malaria. Their only concern now is getting enough funding to support the development of new malaria pharmaceuticals.
