Cilia Do More Than Just Movement

According to a recent study, cilia do more than just promote motion in the cell. Primary cilia also helo control our appetites, and can mean the difference between over eating and wanting a healthy intake of food. These tiny hair-like structures contain a protein that respond to a hormone that dictates appetite. Scientists are now looking at how these new findings can help control obesity and other eating disorders.
