New research at Duke University and Princeton University suggests that when a person meets another person that they consider "disgusting" a function in their brain may disengage therefore "dehumanizing" their victims and failing to acknowledge that they have thought and/or feelings. If we do not engage this part of our brain when we meet a person, sometimes we do not see them as fully human.
