In a recent study and experiment, researchers at Salk Institute for Biological Studies have generated a new way to use a patients' own cells to possibly be able to cure sickle cell disease along with my others that are caused by mutations in a certain gene that help produce blood hemoglobin. This technique uses the patients cells to generate stem cells which are able to change into several types of mature tissues one of those being blood. This new technique also seems to be much more efficient than other methods.
