Permafrost Disappearing

In Fairbanks, Alaska, the thawing permafrost is revealing plants over 30,000 years old, that have been frozen for centuries. Scientists are discovering that there is more trapped carbon dioxide than they thought. The thawing permafrost could have serious implications in regard to the health of the planet. If too much carbon dioxide escapes into the atmosphere, the Earth could warm. The plants have many greenhouse gasses in trapped in them in the form of leaves. If a lot of carbon dioxide enters the atmosphere, it could intensifying global warming. This article ties into our discussion about global warming.
