New Vaccines

This article discussed how there is the potential for developing 20 new vaccines in the next 10 years with the appropriate funding. Professor Richard Moxon at Oxford University said the with proper funding and an increased awareness in the potential of vaccines will lead to vaccines for malaria, AIDS and other infectious diseases. He also said vaccines will be developed for non infectious diseases too such as for various cancers and diabetes. Professor Moxon has been writing a series of papers detailing the future of vaccine research. He also went on to talk about how there is a "fragile" confidence in the public about whether or not vaccines are safe, and how developing countries must increase funding for vaccines in order to benefit their poorer citizens. This prediction for the next decade is very interesting because this means in our lifetime there will be cures for the diseases that we hear about on the news taking millions of lives every year.
