In a study done at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, new research was found dealing with cancer. Data was shown that at lower doses of ionizing radiation, DNA repair mechanisms work a lot better than when they are given at higher doses. This data which strays away from common findings, creates doubt on the general assumption that ionizing radiation is harmful. This led to the findings of DNA double strand breaks and the formation of DNA repair centers in human cells. These findings can help determine the variations of damage across specific individuals with radiation.
