Science has taken great strides in the last couple hundred years. Lobotomy was once performed as if it was a legitimate science. We now look back on it as nearly uncivilized. The Portuguese scientist who created the operation was awarded the Nobel Prize. It was once thought to be a very advanced treatment of mentally ill patients. Eva Perion, the first lady of Argentina, received a lobotomy because of the severe pain she experienced during cancer. It is interesting that some things are looked at as very advanced, than 60 years later, completley out dated. This is important because of our discussion the entire semsester regarding bio ethics. What we consider advanced and absolute in science now, will be proven wrong in the future. Lobotomy isn't exactly how it is depicted in "One Flew Over a Cuckoos Nest." That would be ridiculous.
