Wild salmon in the Pacific Northwest are being tested for something called Infectious Salmon Anemia, or ISA. Several reports of the virus have surfaced in the past few months, leading a provincial Supreme Court justice to hold a hearing for testimony from experts on both sides. Some claim that the Canadian government is covering up these findings, while Canadian officials have argued that the reports are based on poor science. Kristina Miller testified that when she discovered a positive trace of the virus, her superiors had no response, and asked why she had even conducted the tests in the first place. It is unclear if the virus leads to disease.
