Scientists have discovered a gene that could be responsible for Weaver's Syndrome. This is a rare genetic disorder that causes intellectual disability, tall size at birth but then also results in devolpmental delay. They think it is on the EZH2 gene.
They are saying that they would need to more families to be sure that this is the spot for that. They have been using developmental features on young children as a guide for their study. In general cases, finding a disease-causing gene means tracking the gene throughout generations of the family, but this can't be done with Weaver's Syndrom because it has been never reported to hit a family more than once.
