24 weeks into her pregnancy, doctors informed Haydee Ibarra that her baby was not getting enough oxygen and blood to survive. The doctors and parents took a risk to save their child's life. The baby was born 4 months premature, and weighed only 9 ounces and was the size of a soda can. As of December 16th, the baby weighed 4 pounds, however doctors are still uncertain of her future. The ethical question that comes into play is whether saving the life of this baby who may have life long health problems was worth the money. To the parents, it certainly was.
