The Science of Sex

Scientists at Rutgers University in New Jersey released a video animation of functional magnetic resonance images that document the complete sequence of brain activity leading up to, during and after orgasm in women. The sequence of brain maps is the first of its kind, they reported this week at a meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in Washington, D.C.
“One of the very striking things is that all the major systems of the brain become active at orgasm,” said psychologist Barry Komisaruk, whose research team collaborated with theVisualMD LLC, a New York-based medical-visualization company, to turn the brain data into an online animated sequence.  “It is a tapestry of sensation.” -Chanmun Jeong
