Review Finds Vitamin D and Calcium Can Prevent Fractures


Taking vitamin D supplements — combined with calcium — can reduce the risk of broken bones among older adults, according to a review of research prepared for the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Mei Chung says the combined study data showed a smaller benefit for fracture risk among older adults living in the community than among the institutionalized elderly.
