Hemophilia, a disease that results in the blood being unable to clot properly, now has a type of gene therapy that can help counter its effects. People with the disease usually must have preventive injections of a compound called factor IX, but when treated with this gene therapy, 4 of 6 no longer need it. These findings were presented one week ago.
