New gene study of ADHD points to defects in brain signaling pathways

It turns out that while examining the genetic variations between those who have ADHD and those who don't, interesting results have been found. Although this difference has been found in only 10% of those with ADHD, it seems to be a promising link. This is especially true because there are people who are not afflicted with ADHD, but a more mild form of it. This includes short attention span, impulsive behavior, and excessive activity. The details of this study involve the glutamate signaling, but it also seems that this therapy will have be specific to the individual's genetic code.
