This article talks about how abstinent teens today are choosing not to have sex because they are more worried about violating their religious views, rather than thinking about their personal health by catching a sexually transmitted disease. Even though there hasn’t been a substantial decline in teenage sex over the years, there has been an increase in the use of male condoms and female oral contraceptives at the time of their first sexual intercourse. Although it is good that kids who are choosing to stay abstinent are doing so because of their connections with God, we need to let kids know that their own personal health (sexually transmitted diseases) should be their first concern before anything else.
