The God Particle

Physicist at CERN have been wrestling with the question, "Why does anything have mass?" The 17 mile long machine allows this question to be viewed and possibly even answered. The machine is much too complicated to explain, and being a lowly English major who listens to Drake everyday, this quote suffices in summarizing it, "The way it works is ... no, let's not go there. Suffice it to say that there's a sort of energy field that pervades the universe, and that when particles like protons, neutrons, quarks and the rest interact with the Higgs field, they're rewarded with mass. The Higgs boson helps broker the transaction. If what they are looking for happens, they will have a greater understanding of why there is mass, and why we hold together. This will also play into the origins of life which we discussed in class. The 'God' particle could be being found at this moment.
How will this study influence how we view God?
