Dance as an Educational Tool

This November, John Bohannon spoke on TEDtalks in Brussels about his proposal to integrate performance into education and politics. The dancers in the video are part of a local dance theatre company called Black Label Movement, which was founded by University of Minnesota Dance professor, Carl Flink. In the video, Bohannon mentions the efforts that some science majors at U of M are putting forth to incorporate dance into their understanding of cell biology.

As a Theatre Arts major, this video caught my attention because there is something about kinesthetically personifying these hard-to-grasp concepts that really helps me understand what we are trying to learn in class. This is the main idea for my ideal restructured lesson approach that we are doing in class.

Please respond if you find that the dancers helped you understand the material that Bohannon teaches in the video!
