Humans March To A Faster Genetic 'Drummer' Than Primates, UC Riverside Research Says


A study done at UC Riverside aims to portray why humans are so genetically similar but so biologically and intellectually different.  They found the answer to lie in an important factor called Alu DNA repeats, otherwise known as "junk DNA".  This team has identified 2,200 new human specific Alu DNA repeats that are absent in Chimpanzees and most likely most other primates.
