Obese Monkeys Lose Weight On Drug That Attacks Blood Supply of Fat Cells

Using a new experimental drug, scientists were able to make obese monkeys... less obese.  The gluttonous rhesus monkey subjects lost an average of about 11% of their body weight while being treated with the drug.  These results were obtained after only four weeks of treatment.  The drug (now named Adipotide) works by destroying the blood supply to fat tissue, allowing the dead adipose cells to be metabolized by the body.  It should be noted that the test monkeys became obese by their own volition, according to the scientists involved in the study.
