Teenagers are using hand sanitizer to get high. Two ounces of hand sanitizer is equivalent to three ounces of 80-proof tequila. The American Association of Poison Control Center have received 622 calls of hand sanitizer teenage cases last year, and 203 calls this year. Even though none of the teenagers have died from consumption, there are still many health risks. The ethanol can interfere with normal body functions, such as slowed breathing, loss of coordination, and lower blood sugar. Consuming hand sanitizer is dangerous and could be life-threatening.
